Bolts and their different types
DIC Fasteners is the leading high-quality Exporter of Bolts in India. We have a variety of Bolts with ready stock for export and supply. Bolts are available in both inches and metric for various industrial applications. We also specialize in stainless steel Hex bolts, Nuts, Stud Bolts, and other types of fasteners.
A Bolt is a mechanical fastener that is usually used with
a nut for joining two or more objects together. A bolted joint can be easily
put together and taken apart; that is why the bolts or screw fasteners are used
to a greater extent than any other type of fastener. The Bolts consist of one
head with a cylindrical body with screw threads along with a portion of its
length.
Usually, Bolts have more load-bearing capacity
than screws; this is the reason bolts are used in most industrial applications.
High Tensile Bolts are most important in the development of steel structures
because the bolts have more strength. Grades are provided to bolts according to
their strength, which is usually stamped on the head of the Bolts. The ordinary
type of bolt is the Hex bolt. It has a hexagon-shaped head, which is providing
flat surfaces for tools to apply force during its fastening process.
Types of Bolts:
*Anchor Bolts: These Bolts are used to connect structural and non-structural
elements to concrete Anchor Bolts prevent separation, lifting, and falling of
the objects to which they are fastened.
* Carriage
Bolts: Carriage Bolts
come with a square neck under their round head. These bolts have a smooth domed
head with a square section under which pulls into the material to prevent
spinning during its installation.
* Elevator
Bolts: These bolts are
commonly used in the conveyor system. It has a flat, plain, or countersunk head
that holds the bolt in place when tightened.
* Eye Bolts: Eye bolts
are externally threaded fastener which is commonly used in various construction
works. These bolts are used to lift and transport heavy objects.
* Flange Bolts:
Flange Bolts are also known as frame bolts. These bolts can distribute the load
by utilizing a washer attached to the underside of the head.
* Hanger Bolts: These
Bolts are threaded at both ends with one tip featuring a wood screw point. These
bolts are used for overhead applications such as attaching sheet metal.
* Heavy Hex Bolts:
These bolts are designed for use in a variety of high-temperature and
high-strength industrial applications. They have a wide head than the hex
standard hex bolts and it provides a great bearing surface that distributes the
clamping load over a wide area.
* Hex Bolts: These
types of bolts are used to fasten two or more objects together. They are either
fully or partially threaded with a six-sided head at the top of this bolt.
* T Bolts: T Bolts
are commonly used to make a bolted joint. These bolts are the same as T nuts in
their function. These bolts come in different thread types and lengths for
their different applications.
* J Bolts: These
bolts are J-shaped bolts that can be used in various industrial applications. These
bolts are often used in structural applications like securing walls to concrete
foundations.
* Lag Bolts: These
bolts are also known as lag screws, they are large wood screws with hexagonal
heads, having a sharp cutting thread and shoulder below their head.
* Machine Bolts:
Machine bolts are regular hex head or square head bolts, which come with an
externally threaded body, used with Nut or a tapped hole.
* Plow Bolts: This
type of bolt is commonly used in construction tools and on other devices due to
its durability, and is featured by its flat countersunk head.
* Square Bolts: Square
bolts mainly consists of a square head equipped with a smooth shank with
thread. This head design facilitates its easy grip during its installation.
* Shoulder Bolts: Shoulder bolts are widely used in a variety of
applications because of their versatility and unique attributes during
installation. These bolts have three main parts: the head, the shoulder, and
the thread.
* Structural Bolts:
Structural Bolts are often used in structural steel-to-steel fastening
applications. It is a hex head style fastener designed to provide the
heavy-duty holds needed in the steel building foundation.
* Toggle Bolts: These bolts are also known as butterfly anchor
bolts, and are used for hanging objects on unfilled walls like drywall.
*
Tap Bolts: Tap bolts are hex head bolts with a fully
threaded shank. These bolts can be used in a variety of projects including
exterior woodworking.
* U Bolts: U bolt’s shapes are similar to staples,
featuring a bent design that creates “U” with partial threading on both ends.
