Advantages and Limitations of Flange Nuts
A Flange Nut is a type of fastener that has a one-sided shape with a wide, flat surface. The surface of the flange is plain but it can have radial serrations that create a locking action to the bearing surface. Flange nuts distribute the load evenly to ignore the uneven fastening base of the operations. Flange nuts to make sure that the fasteners are in the spot without moving about loosely.
Mostly flange nuts are hexagonally coated with various
coatings depending on their applications. Flange nuts are used in connecting
wood and metal parts together. The flange is often serrated to give the nut
better gripping.
Advantages of Flange Nuts:
* Flange nuts can be adjusted or removed after installation
* Flange nuts or serrated nuts work well for oversized
shapes.
* These nuts can be used without any restrictions.
* You need less force while installing this nut.
Limitations of Flange Nuts:
* Where you provide a
tight fit, these types of nuts use displacement to give you a tight fit.
* If you are using the flange nut with the coated mating
surface, twisting can increase the corrosion.
